What it takes to acquire the language of the country you live in to full proficiency

OK, this video will be in German, a language I fully understand, but can't write without lots of errors.

Warum verstehen Muttersprachler mich nicht? Wieso habe ich ein C2-Niveau und kann immer noch nicht so gut sprechen? Werde ich jemals gut Deutsch sprechen“. Diese und andere Fragen habe ich mir in den ersten Jahren in Deutschland gestellt. Wir sprechen heute über 6 Sachen, die ich gerne früher gewusst hätte und mir diese Fragen erspart hätten.

Lara moved to Germany at the age of eighteen to study for translator. No foreign accent comes through, but facial expression and hand gestures in front of the camera made me guess an Italian origin. Half true, as I later discovered. Lara grew up and attended primary school and high school in Italy. But she arrived with her parents from Moldova. As such her mother tongue is Romanian.
