Easy Catalan

The series of related language channels EASY ( ..xxx...) is not limited to major languages and national languages. There is also a channel Easy Catalan

When including neighbouring regions, where Catalan is spoken, we could state that Catalan is also an international language, spoken in Spain (Catalunya, Valencia, Baleares), the Principality of Andorra, in the south of Roussillon between the Spanish border and Perpignan in France and in the Sardinian town of Alghero (Italy). The dialectal variation, especially outside Catalunya is quite large. The Valencian differs from Catalan mainly for 'political reasons', since Valencia does not consider itself an nation under Spanish rule, the way this is perceived in Catalunya.

How different are Catalan and Spanish? (Easy Catalan 40)

Do People Speak Catalan in Perpinyà? (Easy Catalan 55)

Catalan false friends for speakers of different languages:

Several foreign languages are covered, not all of them Romance language. The opening screen shows some of the 'Easy German' youtubers.

... should you learn Catalan or Spanish when settling in Barcelona?

A video from the Easy Spanish channel, but since it is on topic here...

... and from 'Dreaming Spanish' a video where Pablo speaks Catalan with Augustina, his Argentine co-worker.

Pablo grew up in a bilingual Spanish-Catalan environment. Spanish is his mother tongue, but he doesn't remember having to learn Catalan. If you live in Cataluña, most people around you speak Catalan. Moreover for any Spanish polyglot, learning Catalan is easy: There is plenty of audiovisual material available. Radio and TV channels in Catalan, newspapers in Catalan.
